Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the HiLo team ("we", "us") governing your use of the HiLo mobile app and this website at hilo-game-web.vercel.app (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Licence to use HiLo

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use HiLo on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial entertainment, in line with these Terms and the App Store Terms of Service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where this restriction is prohibited by law.
• Use cheats, bots, automation, or exploits to manipulate scores, streaks, or the daily challenge leaderboard.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its networks, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.

Game content & accuracy

HiLo presents real-world statistics (such as populations, economic figures, rents, and animal speeds) for entertainment. These figures are drawn from public sources, are approximate, and may be simplified, rounded, or out of date. HiLo is a game, not a reference work, and should not be relied on for any factual, financial, or academic purpose.

Purchases & advertising

HiLo is free to download and play, and the app may display advertising. We offer optional in-app purchases: a one-time upgrade to remove ads, individual premium content packs, and an "All Access" auto-renewing subscription that unlocks every pack, including packs added in the future.

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store and managed with our purchase provider, RevenueCat. The All Access subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can view, manage, or cancel it any time in your Apple ID settings; cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Except where required by law or Apple's policies, purchases are non-refundable, and refund requests are handled by Apple. Prices, contents, and availability of paid features may change, though changes will not affect a subscription period you have already paid for.

Intellectual property

The Service, including its name, logo, design, code, and original content, is owned by the HiLo team and protected by intellectual property laws. Third-party names, flags, and emoji used within decks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and gameplay only. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property to you.

Third-party services

HiLo uses third-party services including Google Firebase, Google AdMob, and RevenueCat, and is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your use of those services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services and do not control them. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the app; the Apple-required end-user licence terms apply to your download from the App Store.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any statistics shown are accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the HiLo team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your access to the Service, in whole or in part, if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the HiLo team operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence still apply.
