The short version
HiLo is a simple guessing game. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email, or contact details. Your game progress lives on your device. We use a small number of trusted services to run the game, show optional ads, handle optional purchases, and power the daily challenge. This page explains exactly what those services touch.
Who we are
HiLo ("the app", "we", "us") is an iOS game published by the HiLo team. This policy covers the HiLo mobile app and this website, hilo-game-web.vercel.app.
Information we collect
We designed HiLo to need as little information as possible.
- No personal account. There is no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, or social profiles.
- Anonymous identifier. To power the daily challenge and its leaderboard, the app signs in anonymously through Firebase Authentication. This creates a random ID that is not linked to your real identity.
- Daily challenge results. When you complete a daily challenge, your score for that day is submitted to our database so we can show aggregate standings (for example, "better than 78% of players today"). This is tied to the anonymous ID above, not to you personally.
- Device & usage data. Our service providers (see below) may automatically receive standard technical data such as device type, operating system version, app version, language, approximate region, and crash diagnostics.
- Advertising data. We show only non-personalized ads and do not track you across other apps or websites, so HiLo does not request access to your device's advertising identifier (IDFA). AdMob may still process limited, non-identifying signals to serve and measure ads, as described in the Advertising section.
- Purchases. If you buy the ad-free upgrade, a premium pack, or the All Access subscription, the purchase is handled by Apple and our purchase provider, RevenueCat. They process a transaction receipt and an anonymous app user ID to confirm what you own and restore it across your devices. We do not receive your card number or Apple ID.
Data stored on your device
The following stay on your phone using local storage and are not sent to us:
- Your best streak for each deck.
- The number of games you have played.
- Your settings, such as sound and haptics preferences.
- Which daily challenges you have completed.
Deleting the app removes this on-device data.
Third-party services
HiLo relies on a few reputable providers to function. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore): anonymous sign-in and storing daily challenge results. See the Firebase Privacy and Security page.
- Google AdMob: optional in-app advertising. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: manages in-app purchases and subscriptions and restores them across your devices. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store: distribution and in-app purchases. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Advertising
HiLo may show ads through Google AdMob. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not show personalized ads. Every ad in HiLo is non-personalized, so the app does not present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) for tracking. AdMob may still process limited, non-identifying information (such as general device data and ad-performance signals) to serve and measure these ads. You can reset your advertising identifier in your device settings at any time.
How we use information
- To run the game and save your progress.
- To operate the daily challenge and show aggregate standings.
- To keep the app stable, diagnose crashes, and improve performance.
- To display advertising and support the free version of the app.
- To process optional purchases and subscriptions and restore them on your devices.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share the limited data described above only with the service providers listed, and only so they can perform their function for HiLo. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Retention
On-device data remains until you delete it or remove the app. Daily challenge results tied to your anonymous ID are kept for as long as needed to operate the leaderboard feature. Diagnostic data is retained according to each provider's policy.
Your choices & rights
- Delete my data: in the app, open Settings and tap "Delete my data." This erases your on-device data (streaks, stats, daily history), deletes your anonymous identifier and its daily-challenge scores from our database, and cannot be undone. Your purchases are not affected and can be restored.
- Reset progress: you can also delete and reinstall the app to clear on-device data.
- Advertising: all ads are already non-personalized; you can reset your advertising identifier in iOS Settings at any time.
- Access or deletion requests: depending on where you live, you may have additional rights regarding data associated with your anonymous identifier. Contact us and we will help where we can.
Children
HiLo is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be highlighted in the app or on this site.
